This problem just started appearing yesterday and is a consistent failure. After pressing the keyboard 'sleep' button, the system appears to go to sleep normally. However, when trying to wake it up, it doesn't wake up normally. Upon moving the mouse, the tower powers up and the power light in the power button on the tower lights up blue, as normal so apparently the mouse is recognized.
I can see the disk light blinking, so the drive is accessing. The monitor never wakes up though black screenand the keyboard appears dead The system never comes completely out of the sleep state. When I press and hold the power button on the tower, it will not force the system down, as it normally would I have to physically unplug the power cord from the back of the tower.
After plugging it back in, pressing the power button will cause a normal power-up sequence and the system runs normally until put to sleep again.
I have temporarily circumvented the problem by re-programming the 'sleep' button to cause the system to hibernate instead of going to sleep. Hibernate works normally. Checking the update history, I see that three updates were automatically installed a few days ago, but we don't know if we had tried to use sleep-mode since then, and before yesterday The three updates were:.

Host computer sleeps after 2 hours of inactivity even when a client is connected via RDP Remote Desktop. In previous versions of Windows and even in Win10 before the Fall Update an active RDP session has always prevented the host computer from entering a sleep state even when set to do so after X minutes of inactivity.
Since the Fall Update the host computer of an active RDP session will sleep during an active RDP session when there is lack of activity on the client computer. There should never be a reason for the host of an active RDP session to enter sleep mode when there is a client connected. If the client computer is set to sleep after X minutes of inactivity it seems natural it should do so even during an active RDP session, but then, and only then, should the inactivity timer start for the host computer.
There was a bug introduced in Remote Desktop sometime prior to Win10 Fall Update wherein a host computer would not sleep when set to do so after a period of inactivity after a client had connected and subsequently disconnected to the host via RDP.

This was finally fixed in Fall Update, but I have a sneaking suspicion the fix was too aggressive and this is what led to the problem I am reporting. I am experiencing a sleep issue as well but slightly different.
Since the Auto Update to Version that just happened for me a few days agoit appears that Windows ignores sleep settings I have defined. I wanted to do a long data migration from a 4TB to 8TB drive overnight.
I had noticed since the update that my systems Surface Pro 3, Haswell i started to go into sleep mode against my previous set properties prior to the update both in power settings and personalization. I found the current custom power setting that I had set was changed to sleep while plugged in after 10 min.
I changed it back to never sleep while plugged in but it went into sleep mode anyway while doing the file migrations. I appear unable to change sleep mode due to inactivity to prevent the computer from going into sleep on it own.
